Today's Catch A has as its central figure a tooth, inside a black casing, that appears to be floating or perhaps standing on three posts. Also in this central figure, the roots of the tooth contain cats, and seated (or perhaps impaled) on one of the posts is a humanoid figure with six limbs. There are figures of a starfish, a shark with blood near its mouth, and the feet of someone walking (partially obscured). The top border, a line held by a fish and octopus-like creature, gives the overall painting a feeling of a vignette, or film scene. This painting is brightly colored in purple, pink, and gold hues. Per Kagoshima’s hand-drawn notes on the back of the painting, this piece is paired with Today’s Catch B.
